Winter Fun

We have had just a bit of an ice storm here; not like the big one but involving a lot of hoar frost, followed by rain followed by snow followed by ominous cracks as tree branches gave way under the weight.  Today we had a bit of thaw and a lot beautiful.
JG and the YD, accompanied by dog, went out to clear downed trees off the road.

I took photos.

We are now told that the temperature will drop, and more snow is expected.  Ah, life in Eastern Ontario.
But it sure is beautiful.

  1. We had some outages on Sunday. One must have lasted for more than an hour.

  2. Our "dear friends" in Alberta thoughtfully sent us a Clipper. We got wind, several inches of snow, and temps topping out at 21F today. This, after a nice warm 45F Christmas. Sigh.

  3. It DOES look lovely out there, doesn't it? All sparkly and white - just like a postcard. What the heck is that crazy machine you have there? It's cool and a little scary

  5. You know how I love to come here -- from my subtropical land -- and enjoy your postcard gorgeous winter scenes. I know people complain about the very legitimate inconveniences of winter -- like lost power! -- but oh, the beauty of it, I do miss.

  6. Just popped over from Loth - and I thought our (Scottish) snow was bad!

  7. XUP, it's a Kabota ATV with the wheels replaced by tracks for the winter. Some beast, hmm?
Julie, the ice is staying and the sun was out today and there is a full moon tonight. Spectacular. Also, -24C. Brr. (11 below zero in F)
Hi Isabelle. Nice to meet you. In Canada, we do snow.
Kaye, about 12 hours. No problem. We have a generator hooked in to a bypass panel, just for these occasions. (the water pump needs electricity!)
Anvilcloud, you got lucky. See comment above.
Nance, sounds nice and warm to me.
