A Monday Mission Announcement

WE HAVE KIDNAPPED MARY G.

THE JUNTA ADVOCATING PLAIN ENGLISH IS HOLDING MARY G TO RANSOM. TO RELEASE HER WE DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE FREEING OF ALL LATINATE MULTI-SYLLABLE ADJECTIVES, AN END TO THE EVIL STRETCHING OF METAPHORS AND THE FREE DETERMINATION OF ALL WHICH CLAUSES.

YOU HAVE UNTIL NOON ON WEDNESDAY TO COMPLY WITH THESE TERMS. OR MARY G WILL BE TOAST.

Your Monday Mission. Brought to you by Painted Maypole.

P.S. If you want the Monday Mission button, Kaye at the road goes ever on designed it and she has it up on her website. I am sure that if you ask nicely, she will share. Thank you, Kaye!

  1. I'm going to have to look up most of those words--but I'll try to hurry up so I don't write any more offending posts!

    good one!

did you know your link on Mr. Linky takes you back to a Sept. 2008 post?

I did enjoy the story--thanks for the side trip.

Re the 'toast' thing; you have got to go and read this. http://exurbanpedestrian.wordpress.com/2009/03/30/toast-a-heated-debate/
It has the links back to Loth's original post, I think.
My toast drips sticky peanut butter onto the crossword puzzle; just so you know where I stand and what is waiting to happen to me on Wednesday.

  7. LET HER GO! LET HER GO! LET HER GO!

I love your caricature. It's so you in a weird, one-dimensional sort of way.

Also, it's high time PM had a button. I'm thrilled to see it.

  9. Monosyllabicity is extraordinarily overrated, and metaphor-free writing is yesterday's oatmeal. It's a good thing you're not relying on me to keep you from your hot-buttered doom!

    This was brilliant, Mary!
